The Northern Services Center for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is located in Bemidji, Minnesota. A unique feature of this five-acre site is an existing grove of Red Pine trees covering the entire north half. Striving to minimize impact on the tree grove, the site plan organizes vehicle access and parking to the south and east adjacent to the approach roads while gently nestling the one-story building into the stand of tall evergreens. Interior building functions are organized along a major north-south circulation spine, named the Interaction Hall. The northern third of the hall is fully glazed to capture views into the Red Pine Grove.
