DAKOTA COUNTY HERITAGE LIBRARY

Location: Lakeville, Minnesota
2000
1,858 m2

The Heritage Library is a community focal point, and has a strong civic image for both Dakota County and The City of Lakeville. The library serves a growing community, and is integrated into the community's municipal campus. The mission was to build a county library and county service center that serves and reflects the community. The library features laminated wood arches, and the main reading room faces south to maximize the view and natural lighting. Daylighting is controlled in multiple ways to help regulate conditions in the space. A large overhang is used to shade the glass; operable blinds are used to control low setting or winter sun.
